Christopher W. Bunting, CPA (North Carolina Certificate Number 22034), CIA, joined Haynes Strand and Company PLLC in August of 1990. Chris is a 1990 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and has eighteen years of experience in public accounting. In 2012, Chris was made principal at Haynes Strand and Company PLLC. Chris obtained his Certified Internal Auditor designation while working as an internal auditor with National Textiles. He is also the treasurer of the United Fund of Surry. Chris lives in Mount Airy, North Carolina. He is married to Sheila Bunting and has one daughter, Gilleyn. |

J. Samuel Gentry, Jr., CPA (North Carolina Certificate Number 12145), JD, is one of the founding members of Haynes Strand and Company PLLC. He is a 1975 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BS Degree in Business Administration. Sam also received a JD Degree from the UNC School of law in 1978 and has thirty-four years of experience in law and public accounting. Sam is a licensed N.C. attorney, as well as a Certified Valuation Analyst. Prior to helping establish Haynes Strand and Company PLLC, he worked with Tuggle, Duggins, Meschan & Thornton law firm in Greensboro (1978 to 1981). Sam is a former Board Member of the Mt. Airy Youth Foundation, Surry Community College Foundation, Inc., and the Surry Arts Council. Currently, Sam is on the Board of Directors of the Surry County Schools Educational Foundation. He is also a member at First Baptist Church of Mount Airy where he serves as the Chairman of the Finance Committee and previously served as a Deacon. Sam lives in Mount Airy, North Carolina. He is married to Susan Gentry and has 2 children, Sammy and Nancy. |

Jeffrey A. Gordon, CPA (North Carolina Certificate Number 19500), joined Haynes Strand and Company PLLC in January of 1988, shortly after its formation. He is a 1987 graduate of Western Carolina University with a BS Degree in Business Administration and has twenty-five years of experience in public accounting. Jeff was raised on a tobacco farm in North Carolina. During his high school career, as well as his first two years of college, he worked at Armtex textile mill. Later, Jeff interned at the Mount Airy, North Carolina branch of the CPA firm Strand Skees Jones and Company, before joining Haynes Strand and Company in 1988. Jeff is currently on the Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce board of directors, serves as treasurer for the Stokes County Youth Basketball League and is a deacon of the First Baptist Church of King. He is also the director of First Baptist Church of King's Child Development Center. In previous years, Jeff served as treasurer, as well as president, of the Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce. He also served as treasurer of the Mount Airy Museum of Regional History. Jeff lives in King, North Carolina. He is married to Kelli Gordon and has two sons, Jacob and Blake. |

John B. Haynes, CPA (1948-2012), was a founding member and principal of Haynes Strand and Company PLLC. He graduated from Appalachian State University in 1970 with a BS Degree in Business Administration. John was a partner with Strand Skees Jones and Company before joining with J. Sam Gentry Jr., Jerry Schultheiss, Austin Strand and Johnny Wood to form Haynes Strand and Company PLLC. He served as chairman of the Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce, treasurer of the Mount Airy Museum of Regional History, and was a past District Governor for Rotary International District 7690 John also served as treasurer of Surry Medical Ministries, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing medical services for the uninsured poor and needy. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Mount Airy, and served on both the Personnel and Finance committees of his church. John had a passion for Haynes Strand and Company and was proud to see it grow and prosper over the years. He was an inspiration to everyone who knew him we will strive to carry on his example of dedicated client and community service. |

Gerald W. Schultheiss, CPA (North Carolina Certificate Number 2108), is a founding member and principal of Haynes Strand and Company PLLC. He is a 1960 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BS Degree in Business Administration. Jerry has over fifty years of experience in public accounting. Jerry worked at Strand Skees Jones and Company with fellow founding members J. Sam Gentry, Jr., John Haynes, Austin Strand and Johnny Wood. He became a tax partner and served the company for twenty-seven years. In November of 1987, Jerry left Strand Skees Jones and Company to help create Haynes Strand and Company PLLC. Jerry lives in Greensboro, North Carolina. He was married to the late Ruby Schultheiss and has two children, Gerald Jr. and Robin. |

Austin C. Strand, CPA, CFE (1932-2005) was a founding member and principal of Haynes Strand and Company PLLC. He was a graduate of Davidson College with a BS Degree in Business Administration. He earned the designation of Certified Fraud Examiner. Austin served as a deacon elder, trustee and on numerous church finance and human relations committees at First Presbyterian Church in Greensboro, North Carolina. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout and was an officer in the US Army in the Office of Finance. He was an avid fisherman and tennis player. His professionalism, integrity, and quiet dignity defined and inspired our company and its employees for over eighteen years. His character was his greatest attribute. Our service to clients and community will always strive to reflect his legacy. |

Johnny C. Wood, CPA (North Carolina Certificate Number 10733), is a founding member and principal of Haynes Strand and Company PLLC. He is a 1974 graduate of Guilford College with a BS Degree in Business Administration and has thirty-eight years of experience in public accounting. Johnny served as a partner with Strand Skees Jones and Company prior to helping form Haynes Strand and Company PLLC. Johnny is currently the treasurer, a member of the Board of Directors, and a member of the Executive Board of the Nussbaum Center for Entrepreneurship. The Nussbaum Center is the largest small business incubator in North Carolina and seeks to enhance economic development in Greensboro and the surrounding area. Johnny is also an active member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, serving on both the Administrative and Finance Committees. Outside of work, Johnny is an active tennis player and thoroughly enjoys running. Johnny lives in Greensboro, North Carolina. He is married to Bobbie Wood and has two daughters, Abbie and Hannah. |
